South Dakota Health & Educational Facilities Authority

Mission Statement.

The South Dakota Heath and Educational Facilities Authority (the “Authority”) is a body politic and corporate and public instrumentality of the State of South Dakota. The Authority was created in 1972 to enhance the health and education of citizens of the State of South Dakota by providing healthcare, educational and other non-profit institutions access to low cost capital. South Dakota Health and Educational Facilities Authority is committed to facilitating the financing process and ensuring its integrity.

Interest paid on the Authority’s tax-exempt bonds and notes is exempt from federal income taxation. The result is substantial savings on capital projects which lowers the cost of healthcare, education and other services in South Dakota, while ensuring the future of the state’s vital not-for-profit healthcare and educational sector.
